Uttar Pradesh: Triveni Sugar Mill conducts fire mock drill to test emergency response, coordination - ChiniMandi

Kaptanganj: A state-level mock drill at the Triveni Sugar Mill complex in Kaptanganj tested the preparedness of the fire brigade, mill employees and government departments to respond to a fire and other emergencies, reported Dainik Bhaskar. The exercise assessed the teams’ response time, coordination, communication and ability to deploy available resources during a disaster.

The drill began with a simulated fire being reported at the mill premises. On receiving the alert, Kaptanganj Tehsil Fire Officer Sumant Kumar Dohre and his team reached the site and carried out firefighting and rescue procedures using modern equipment. The team also practised securing the affected area and preventing the simulated fire from spreading.

The exercise was part of a state-level earthquake, chemical and fire safety mock drill aimed at assessing disaster preparedness. Officials from the administration, health department, fire services and mill management participated in the exercise and carried out their respective emergency-response procedures.

The drill was conducted under the supervision of Triveni Sugar Mill Assistant Director (Factories) S. Raj Singh and Factory Manager Manvendra Rai. The exercise also assessed how quickly resources could be mobilised and how effectively employees and response teams could react to an emergency.

SDM Kaptanganj Akanksha Mishra, Tehsildar Abhishek Mishra, SP Chaudhary, Ward Boy Nawaz Sharif, Chief Engineer Awadhesh Singh, Chhattu Chaurasia, Law Officer Neeraj Dubey and Accountant Sandeep Singh were among the officials present.

The exercise also covered the response of health and relief teams, including arrangements for assisting injured people and carrying out rescue and relief operations. Officials assessed communication between departments, response times and potential challenges that could arise during an actual emergency.

The authorities said such mock drills help identify gaps in emergency preparedness and strengthen the ability of different agencies to respond quickly and in a coordinated manner during a real disaster.
