Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday (October 4, 2026) said in the recent International Trade Show, the Fisheries Department receives investment proposals worth ₹600.20 crore with investors shown interest in fisheries, feed mills, cold chain, hatchery and seed production, and value addition and export sectors.
“During International Trade Show-2026, the exhibition/stall set up by the Fisheries Department of Uttar Pradesh remained a major attraction for investors, entrepreneurs, students and fish farmers. Through the exhibition, information was provided on investment opportunities, modern technologies, production, processing, cold chain, hatchery and quality fish seed production, and value addition opportunities available in the state in fisheries and related allied sectors. During the trade show, various investors and entrepreneurs interacted with officials of the Fisheries Department and held detailed discussions on investment opportunities in the fisheries sector in the state. During this, information was shared regarding the projects proposed by investors, potential investments, technical requirements and potential areas for the projects. As a result of these discussions, investment proposals totaling Rs 600.20 crore have been received across various sub-sectors of the fisheries sector,” told Dhanalakshmi K., Director General, Fisheries, to The Hindu.
Ms. Dhanalakshmi, the 2000-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer added, “the investment proposals received include ₹13.80 crore in the fisheries sector, ₹51.00 crore in the feed mill sector, ₹509.20 crore in the cold chain sector, ₹6.20 crore in the hatchery and seed production sector, and ₹20.00 crore in the value addition and export sector. In the Trade Show, major attraction was the exhibition of state fish Chitala, & other state fishes, ornamental fishes, RAS & Fish Mandi module, Nishad raj Boat module, to mention a few. During International Trade Show-2026, investment proposals were submitted by various prominent investors and entrepreneurs, including Fish White Varanasi, BVG India Private Limited, Bengaluru and PVR Aqua,. Investors expressed interest in working in the areas of fish production, availability of quality fish seed, modern hatcheries, feed production, cold chain and value-added fish products in Uttar Pradesh,”.
The Fisheries Department provided investors with information regarding the investment opportunities available for the development of the fisheries sector in the State, departmental schemes and the procedures required for implementation of projects. The objective of the department is to increase fish production and productivity through private investment, ensure the availability of quality fish seed, develop modern fisheries infrastructure, and promote value addition, processing and marketing of fish products.
“All investment proposals received will be examined by the department as per the rules. After examining the feasibility of the projects, proposed investments, technical requirements and other related aspects, further action will be taken as per the rules regarding eligible projects. As required, action will also be taken to enter into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the concerned investors,” added the Director General, Fisheries.
The DG further added that, the investment proposals received through International Trade Show-2026 are an important initiative towards promoting private investment and entrepreneurship in the fisheries sector in the State. “These proposals are expected to help strengthen the entire value chain of the fisheries sector,” she said.
