Uttar Pradesh: Prayagraj’s Mahakaushal Distillery to produce 1 lakh litres of ethanol daily - ChiniMandi

Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh’s ethanol production capacity is set to receive a boost with the upcoming Mahakaushal Distillery in Shankargarh, Prayagraj, expected to produce around 1 lakh litres of ethanol a day once operations begin, Hindustan reported.

Construction and installation work at the distillery is progressing, with the company having deposited the required funds for the project. Some equipment and plant installations are still pending, after which commercial production can begin.

Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has directed officials of the concerned departments to provide the necessary support to facilitate completion of the project.

District Excise Officer Sushil Kumar Mishra said work on the Mahakaushal Distillery plant was underway and the required amount had been deposited by the company. Installation of the remaining equipment and plant machinery is expected to be completed before production begins.

According to officials, the distillery could commence production between December this year and January next year. Once operational, the facility is expected to have the capacity to produce around 1 lakh litres of ethanol per day.

The project is expected to strengthen ethanol production infrastructure in Prayagraj while also supporting industrial activity and employment opportunities in the district.

Distillery may also process Allahabadi guava

The distillery is also expected to explore the production of alcoholic beverages using the region’s famed Allahabadi guava. Similar fruit-based beverages are being produced by some distilleries, creating additional opportunities for horticulture and local employment.

The use of locally grown guava as a raw material could provide an additional market for fruit growers while supporting value addition within the district.
