Uttar Pradesh: Bijnor sugar mills get 3.26 lakh quintal sales quota for second half of September - ChiniMandi

Bijnor: Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district have been allocated a combined 3,26,180 quintals (approximately 32,618 tonnes) of sugar for sale during the second half of September 2026, up from 2.99 lakh quintals in the first fortnight, Jagran reported.

Across Uttar Pradesh, the government has allocated 4,19,796 tonnes of sugar to mills for sale during the second half of September.

The latest Bijnor quota, valid until September 30, will determine the volume of sugar each mill can sell during the period. Mills and buyers have been assigned separate time slots for lifting the sugar, while unsold stocks are required to be collected within the stipulated period.

The government introduced tighter controls on sugar sales after prices rose sharply in August. From September, the quota cycle was reduced from one month to 15 days, with mills prohibited from selling beyond their allocated quota.

The measures, along with monitoring of mill stocks, have contributed to a decline in sugar prices, which fell from around Rs 6,000 to around Rs 5,000 per quintal, according to the report.

The district-wise allocation for Bijnor is:

District Sugarcane Officer Brajesh Kumar Patel said mills had been instructed to sell sugar strictly within their allocated quotas and comply with the government’s regulations. Sugar stocks at the mills are also being inspected regularly, he said.

The government is expected to issue two additional sugar sales quotas for mills in October.
