Uttar Pradesh: Bijnor sugar mills begin installing weighing machines at cane purchasing centres ahead of crushing season - ChiniMandi

Sugar mills in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh have begun installing weighing machines at sugarcane purchasing centres as preparations gather pace for the upcoming crushing season, reported Hindustan.

The installation work is being carried out on a war footing across the district, with several mills already deploying weighing machines at their designated purchasing centres. Bilai Sugar Mill, Changipur Sugar Mill and other mills have started the process.

The district has 10 sugar mills, with around 744 sugarcane purchasing centres, including centres located at the gates of the mills. The installation of weighing machines is being completed ahead of the start of the crushing season.

Some sugar mills in the district are expected to commence operations in the last week of October. The start of the crushing season is also expected to ease the shortage of fodder faced by farmers.

Farmers’ organisations have urged sugar mills to ensure that crushing operations begin by October 15 to prevent inconvenience to farmers and ensure timely arrangements for handling the incoming sugarcane crop.
